Privacy
Flashwell keeps what it needs to run your account and sync your cards, and nothing else. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold.
What Flashwell keeps
- Your account: your e-mail address, the name you give (if any), and a salted hash of your password. Flashwell never stores the password itself. If you sign in with Apple or Google, it keeps the account identifier they give it instead.
- What you sync: your decks, cards, their pictures and sounds, and your review history, so they can reach your other Macs.
- A random id for each Mac, so sync can tell your Macs apart. It is not tied to your hardware.
- Community: decks you choose to share are public under CC BY-SA 4.0. Votes use a random id, not your account.
What it doesn't do
No advertising, no analytics trackers, and no selling or sharing of your data. The only e-mail Flashwell sends is a password-reset link you ask for.
Where it lives
Your cards live on your Mac, with automatic local backups. Synced copies are kept on Flashwell's server, hosted by Railway. Password-reset e-mails are sent through Resend.
Deleting it
In Flashwell, open Settings, then Account, then Delete account. That deletes your account and everything it synced from the server. The cards on your Mac stay there; you can export them to Anki or CSV at any time.
Questions
